If you’re a parent, I am sure you went through this too.
First, you’re single, and you have all your single friends, and you hang out, and have fun…then one or two get married and you see less and less of them, and they also keep telling you ” you should get married, it great, fantastic…” so you marry your partner, and it’s great and fantastic, and you start realising you need your friends to get married or they won’t hang out with you, because, singles hang out with singles and married couples hang out with married couples…
so for a few years you’re sailing in your couple’s friendships, until one of your couple- friends get pregnant, and have a baby…and start telling you how you should have one too. and how great and fantastic it is, and you don’t know it yet, but unless you have your own baby, you won’t have much to talk about with them…parents talk about their children and married couples talk about their vacations…those two- don’t go together…
then, you have your own baby, and get new friends that all have babies, and you’re settled again…baby play dates…breakfast at the beach…and then you get pregnant again, and NOW, having tow kids puts you in a whole NEW group of friends, because two kids is not the same as one….and everyone knows it ( those who have the two kids, and those who deliberately DON’T have two kids…)
but the worst, is when you have friends who have been with you all along, from single, through weddings, through children, through TWO through good, bad, hard, fun, ugly, EVERYTHING, and then they move to another city, in another state so far away we only get to see them every other kid, I mean year…
SO they came to visit, Emma, and Jaxson. We love you and your parents.
