Jigsaw London – Valentine Edition

I heard there was a new bachelor Season…Admittedly, I watch A LOT of TV, but that’s on show I just couldn’t get into….but when I saw a bunch of girls, all dolled up win their Jigsaw getups and a bouquet of roses – I just HAD to… I HAD to!

In the mean time – besides awards season that’s upon us here in LA… Jigsaw has their own little awards thingie going on, in the form of 20% off the SALE items…Just follow this link tot their sales items  and use the code  BlogLove0506 for those additional 20% discount beyond the sale.. and no, I am not getting anything in return – I just like their clothes ( I got the red jeans pictures above, and they are stretchy  comfy sexy and dont show my butt when I sit down!!! ) so if you were wondering what to get for yourself on valentine’s day…

and the models are…. ElizabethJodiAlisonBrittanySarah and Ellie !

Be My Valentine

As I get ready to attend another Valentine Knoll Shoot in Orange County I look back at last year’s Knoll shoot and I look forward to seeing some of the kids from last year who have grown so much, and my kids’ photos from last Valentine can be seen right here… in case you forgot… so as we almost end January and start February… if you haven’t yet sent out cards, or organized your photos, or updated the grandparents – please do so… I personally intend to order some large prints and frame them – and I will post those pics too… Until then, All you need is LOVE!

If I photographed seniors

Senior Photography

I don’t really have an official Seniors photography side of the business… nor have I officially photographed a senior (in fact, when I started out and I read about photographers offering Senior Photography I thought they went into old age homes… SERIOUSLY! This is the first I am confessing of that embarrassing moment…. :)

I photograph lots of teenagers for their Bar or Bat Mitzvahs sign in books… but a lot happens between age 13 and 17, and I won’t get into that right now… so photographing  Jessica was probably the closest thing to a senior shoot… She’s 18, she’s my cousin, and and in a couple of weeks she’ll be a soldier, and even though I am “dontsmilenow” when Jessica and Emily are around it’s just impossible to not laugh out loud, and I mean LOL! Some of you may have seen the preview of the shots, and Jess and Em have since got hard copy prints and taken them home after visiting us here in Los Angeles, and I miss her already….
So Jessica – we’re waiting for you here! See you soon!

Yoga Everyone

When I arrived in the states over 10 years ago I stayed with my friends who dragged me to a a yoga class… I had to look left and I had to look right, which is very hard when you’re trying to complete a sun salutation for the first time in your life… it took me about 24 hours to recuperate from the one class and pretty much manage avoided it ever since…Until I met Liora – she was teaching semi private Yoga lessons, mixed with her Ayurveda studies… it was the first time that a teacher explained to us newbies, what to do, how to move, how to breather and why….. it was the first time that I didn’t have to count on the person on the mat next to me…  truly enjoyed her lesson, and always fell asleep in shavasanah!  Since then, for technical and scheduling reasons, we changed gears – I started taking Karate  and Liora connected with another friend, Samantha, who opened a different kind of Yoga Place called Yoga Everyone – where she will be teaching Ayurvedic Yoga  starting next month… so naturally she needed a head shot… one can study yoga in depth for years, but without a good headshot… there’d be nothing to put on the bio page… so next time you feel the urge to yoga, follow Liora, because wether you now it or not…to Yoga Everyone

Not The End of The World

We were all prepared for the End of The World on 12.21.12 and being by the beach in Santa Monica where they have signs instructing which way to go if a Tsunami hits the shores seemed like as perfecta place to be as anywhere….and prefect it was! Jack and Nancy are close friends, so it was a truly special event to be at – not only did I get to attend my friend’s wedding, but I actively participated int he best way I know how…being the photographer… it was so much fun knowing all the guests, and being the guest (Hey, I even got the same meal as everyone else…) and the BEST part, was that once I put down my camera at 10:00pm I got to dance, dance the night away!
An intimate small wedding still requires a fabulous wedding planner – we were lucky to have Dee Gaubert of No Worries Event Planning to help make the day go smoothly,….

Happy New Year 2013

2 kids in a field

The only resolution I made this year – was to not make any resolutions. This year I decided to just do what I want to do, without making big promises to myself or to the world. I thought about it – preparing for the inevitable change of numbers, and I realize as I write, having changed my own number – that  to avoid a set of disappointments in myself or feeling of failure, the best thing I could do for myself is drop all the “should”s, and go with the “do”s. Which means, for better or for worse, a few long nights with my computer on my lap, the TV on in the background, and my mind going back and forth listig my to dos, my schedule, my plans with the kids, a book I want to catch up on, and  what the future holds…..What I have been practicing and has worked in an unexpected way is finding my gratitude. OK – I know it doesn’t sound like me – I don’t go THERE, but, it was working for me, and in the past few weeks I had lost that confidence that came from realizing I had everything I needed – on the outside, and more so in the INSIDE, so this blog post, a letter to myself that anyone could read, is to remind myself that that statement and state of mind still stands true. So as I celebrate the New Year in the best way I could imagine – an evening with friends and their children – playing games (celebrity and Apples to Apples) and at midnight , (the real Pacific Standard midnight, not the 9pm one we’re used to)  kissing my husband who had met on New Year’s eve 12 years but did not kiss back then….and ending it, with my laptop and The Game of Thrones on… (apparently harder to do than I expected since there seems to be a lot I need to pay attention to on the TV… ) so with this I bid you – a HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013!

And even though I am not making any promises … I have to fulfill my grandparents wish for photos of Kyle and Zoe

Zoe - the beautiful girl

Merry Christmas!

Just because I don’t get to celebrate Christmas, doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s the most fun holiday ever…and just because I don’t have a tree in my own house doesn’t mean I don’t secretly WANT to have a tall evergreen decorated with ornaments I would have collected over the years, from places all over the world, and maybe created some of my own…so I guess it’s not a secret anymore…and l just tell myself that it’s a good thing I don’t celebrate xmas because I really do NOT have room to store all the decorations I would have acquired over time….but just because I DON’T celebrate Christmas, doesn’t mean I can’t post photos of my beautiful client’s gorgeous tree decorated overnight so we could get these images…

So, just because I DON’T get to celebrate Christmas, doesn’t mean I can’t wish the rest of the world, that does – MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Cousins! Sneak Peek in the valley….

You may have seen and remember my other cousin‘s photos from her visit to LA… and unlike my New Yorker cousin who’s really, a second cousin… Emily and Jess are my first cousins… In fact, Emily, has been photographed by me since I first got my camera… when I was 15 and she was barely learning how to walk… By the time Jessica came around, about 18 years ago, I was already more into self portraits and moving to America than documenting a cute cousins baby girl.. but since she’s visiting, and since they asked, very nicely, I agreed to test out a new location I’d been eyeing, and dragged them there for a late afternoon winter session… yes, Southern California winter looks like this….so after laughing at all the out-takes of the shoot, I got left with about 125 photos I LOVE, and I can’t wait to post some more, but I’ll have to, since I have real clients I have to take care of, and even though they keep telling me family comes first, and they bought me dinner, they’ll have to settle for a sneak peek… I think its might be worth it!
